I am still working on Guns, Germs, and Steel (only a little over 100 pages left!), but decided to start a new book today. I love the theories and research that Diamond did, but reading only that book for the past week has become frustrating again, which is why I stopped reading the book in the first place. So I am going in the complete opposite direction with my new book: a classic adventure novel! After you finish a book (or become stuck in the middle of one), do you find yourself looking for something in an opposite genre, or do you tend to only read one style of book?

The rules for Teaser Tuesday are simple:

  1. Grab your current read
  2. Open to a random page
  3. Share two “teaser” sentences from that page (without spoiling the book!)
  4. Include the title and author so others can find the book if they enjoyed your teaser

This week’s teaser:

” ‘There is nothing like common sense to put courage into a man,’ continued the sailor, ‘especially as by that time the wind had abated and the sea gone down. Still the water continued to rise, not much it is true, about two inches an hour.’ “

~The Count of Monte Cristo, Alexandre Dumas, page 144
